Being stationed in Southern California is a baseball fan’s dream.  I am stationed in Camp Pendleton which is half-way between San Diego and Los Angeles for those of yo that did not know.  I am a huge baseball fan and being down here is awesome for a fan of the game.  I have three, YES 3!!!!, Major League Baseball teams within an hour and a half of where I live in Temecula.  I can be at PETCO park for a Padres game, Edison Field for an Angels game, or Dodger Stadium (BEAT LA) for a Dodgers game.  Also in Lake Elsinore about 15 minutes from where I live the Padres have their Class A affiliate the Storm.  As you can see it is definitely a great place for a baseball fan to be even if you are not a fan of any of those teams (which I am not although the Angels are alright).  If your team happens to be in the NL you get a chance to see them in either LA or SD both of which are nice parks and in SD’s case it is in beautiful downtown SD in the historic gas lamp district (think lots of bars for those of you unfamiliar with SD).  If your team is in the AL you can run up to Anaheim and see them there.  Also with inter-league play you might get a chance to see your team at any three of the stadiums in a given year.  Another great thing is that if you want to take a long weekend and get out of town you can make the relatively short drive to the bay area and catch games either at AT&T park home the best team in the country the San Francisco Giants or go over to the Oakland Coliseum and see the A’s take on whoever they are playing.  Southern California is definitely a great place for a baseball fan to live because no matter what you know you will have the chance to catch your team at least once a year.
