Pendleton Burning
Camp Pendleton is on fire for the second year in a row. Last year the base, as well as most of San Diego County, was shut down for a week due to wildfires. Yesterday one of my Marines was evacuated from base housing due to fires near his house. He was rehoused in another housing unit (with no power) for the night.
Currently the Pulgas Gate and the San Louis Ray gate are closed due to fires. Interstate 5 was closed in both directions due to the fact that there was a grass fire on the highway.
Today liberty secured at noon and we were sent home at 1215 due to the fact that a fire had jumped a break and was headed toward us. Hopefully the fires will be contained soon and everyone can get back to work tomorrow with no loss of life or property. I will keep everyone posted on anything I hear.

Jarhead,
Welp, I figured that California would just shake itself in the waters of the Pacific Ocean but now I think it’s just going to go up in smoke.
{breathe — new thoughts}
I hope all personnel and their families are safe. Good Luck to all with a few extra prayers being said along with a ‘Rain Dance’ sent your way.
Hey, the ‘Dance’ can’t hurt. I’ll remember to keep it short so you don’t ‘float away in a river of mud’.
