In 1919 the US celebrated the first Veterans Day (known then as Armisitice Day).  In 1954 President D. Eisenhower signed a law to change it to Veterans Day to recognize all Veterans that have served and not just those that served in WWI.

Veterans Day is a day for all citizens of this great nation to celebrate and thank all that have served to keep our freedom.  So while you are out tomorrow going to all the Veterans Day sales take a minute to thank a Vet.  Think of all those that are serving in Iraq and Afghanistan as well as all the others deployed around the world.

Veterans Day is a day for me to reflect onnot only what I do in the Marine Corps but als to think of all that I know that have served.  The first that I always think of is my Grandfather who served in WWII in the Navy.  Also my dad’s dad who was in the RAF during WWII as well.  My Father-in-Law who served for 26 years in the Navy and my brother who did 6 in the AF.

Without these gentlemen and the millions of like-minded individuals the US would not be what it is today.  God bless to all that have served.
