LET THEM FAIL
I am getting so disgusted at our Government right now. I am tired of politicians. I am tired of people trying to make themselves and their party look good. I am tired of all the bullshit that has come down in the past few months about bailing out corporate America. I think it is downright shitty to ask the American people to buy mortgages and restructure them with our dollars. Why should we bail out GM, Ford and Chrysler. My tax dollars can be spent in much better ways.
Why are the big three and the UAW spending millions of dollars on lobbying the government for help? Why should I pay to fix a company that has relied so heavily on one product (big over sized gas guzzling trucks)? Why should my tax dollars go to a company that can’t take care of itself. If the Government continues to bailout and prop-up every business that starts to go under isn’t that socialism? If Warren Buffet ,the most savvy investor out there, isn’t buying into them why should we.
If we bailout the big three who will be next? Is Macy’s next, how bout Nordstram’s, maybe the companies that own the big malls will come running because mall rates are falling due to the fact that stores can’t make enough money. Why aren’t Pelosi and the rest of the Dems trying to give my money to Circuit City they have gone bankrupt and had to close over 100 stores. This has put many people out of a job and that is fact. Is it because they weren’t unionized and didnt give her and the other politicians millions of dollars?
Why aren’t the politicians trying to get my credit card rates reduced and restructure that debt? Why can’t they force Bank of America and Navy Federal to lower my interest rates and reduce how much I owed (total or monthly)? With more money in my pocket I could spend more at the malls and Circuit City. Spending more would keep them in business and drive the economy.
Why can’t we let the poorly run companies fail, file bankruptcy, get back on thier feet and run a company properly. Let the big three fail, cancel all deals with the UAW and refuse to deal with them. Pay wages that are fair for the work being done. There is no reason a janitor needs to make more than $10 and hour and then only if he is the head janitor. Someone who drives a forklift 20 feet back and forth shouldn’t be making 6 figures a year.
You see the real bad guy for the big three is not rising gas prices. It isn’t gas guzzling SUV’s and Trucks. Hell it isn’t even Toyota, Honda, or Nissan. The one thing that is allowing GM, FORD, and Chrysler to fail is their workers. It is the UAW.
I AM TIRED OF MY TAX DOLLARS BEING WASTED AND SO SHOULD YOU. WE ARE EXPECTED TO BE FISCALLY RESPONSIBLE AND WE NEED TO DEMAND THAT OF THE GOVERNMENT. NO MORE BULLSHIT SPENDING. FIX MY BRIDGES, FUND OUR SCHOOLS, HELL EVEN GIVE HEALTH CARE TO ALL THE KIDS IN THE NATION. JUST DON’T CONTINUE TO BAILOUT CORPORATE AMERICA.

Amen to that, brother. The fed is not supposed to be backup insurance for idiotic business decisions. Companies that have crappy leadership need to fail – or suffer – in order to lead to the changes that are needed to remain strong. It seems that a change in administration will offer changes in some ways, but not the economic reform that we so desperately need.

And again, I say, Amen! I would rather my tax money went to provide better VA benefits! I resent the fact that careful home owners and those who pay their debt are actually being punished for being responsible (or at least that’s what it feels like).

Thank-You for speaking my very thoughts.
Everyday that I hear more about the ‘bail-out’ of the UAW & the ‘big 3′, I get madder and madder.
“IF” the Taxpayers bail-out these corporations and union then the contracts with the unions are cancelled completely. Wages are brought more into what the normal wages for these jobs are all across the country and close to what the Non-union car companies are paying their workers.
Health Care and Pensions Plans are all re-worked.
The Unions have milked the cash-cow until it is well past the dry stages and now should reap what they have sowed.

Jarhead I agree with you but the problem is nothing is going to change… There are two ways to approach this: 1) You can worry yourself sick about the 50 billion congress is going to give the UAW. Or 2) You can not worry about thew 50 billion that congress is going to give the UAW. Welcome to socialism… our government now guarantees that companies will succeed. It doesn’t matter if they haven’t produced a car worth buying in 20 years…

Unfortunately you are right. The Government is afraid that if they don’t do anything then they will loose office. They need to quit thinking of themselves and think of what is best for the country.

Jarhead,
Of course if the Congress and Senate did as you stated then this country would not be in such a mess as it is today.
Unfortunately, 99% of those who are there are only interested in what the “Power and Prestige” can bring to them during and after their stay in ‘Office’.
It’s also about how much they can get in the way of ‘Money’ and ‘Benefits’ they can cram into their pockets.
And they call us greedy.
