I’m Back
OK as you know I was back out to 29 Palms for the past two weeks in support of Big Blue Diamond’s (1st MarDiv) yearly field op. This was the most boring two weeks of my life that I have ever had. There was less for me to do in the two weeks I was out there than I normaly have in a single day. I did however get a chance to watch quite a few movies as well as some Las Vegas & Family Guy season’s. I also watched Band of Brother’s again.
I got home last night. I had quite a few emails to go through and my Google reader was packed. It has taken me until tonight to get through everything. I upgraded my Wordpress (really like the new version) and made sure I was all up to date on this thing.
With as slow as this field op was I unfortunately don’t have any stories to share. Hell the most exciting thing that I did out there was having to pull nets down due to the fact that the winds were gusting up to 45 MPH. All I did for that was unstake the cammie net and let the wind do the rest. I did have to use a pole to unhook the net from my truck but all in all the wind did what takes me and my Marine 10-15 minutes all of 10-15 seconds.
Hopefully some good stuf comes up over the next few days and I can get some good stories in. It is good to be back.

Welcome back, Devil Dog. Your description of the wind and nets leads me to remember a REALLY windy night in Kosovo, when a bunch of our tents went up in a driving wind and rainstorm. It was actually pretty funny (in retrospect) as all of us ran around in the mud in our skivvies trying to lash everything back down… there’s no insurance against that kind of thing, though. Thanks for the reminder.

That is some funny shit. I have run around in my drawers doing some stupid shit in the field just glad it wasn’t raining.
