Hi Jarhead,

Never gave up on you. In fact didn't even give it an iota of a thought. Figured you were busy...all the things the Corps would have you doing and then the Family with all the do-uns for the summer.

I was right.

Your son came to visit...DAMN RIGHT...you must do all the fun things you can with him. That's ONE of the best jobs you have as a Dad AND hopefully the most fun ones.

Your Grandmother[G-Mother] got to see her Great-Grandson[GG-son]?? If so I hope you were able to convince her to tag along on some of those fun things. Did she cook-up not only Your favorite food but the Son's too? If she did, I can lay a $2 bet on the table that there wasn't a crumb left and feel good about losing that bet.
Was Mother and G-Mother there at the same time as Son? Did they share some of the stories of you as a young boy with Son. Did Son look at you with "big eyes" and say, "Dad, did you really do that?"
{snicker, snicker...I ask because I know what you would have been going though because my Mother did that to me with my 3 Sons and that was the comment I got back from them except mine started out with MAAAA-UUMMMMMM. LOL, LOL ;-)snicker....}

YOU GOT A HOUSE?

YOU GOT A HOUSE!!!!!

HOD-DIG-GA-DEE-DAMMMN!!! CONGRATULATIONS!!!!

Welcome to the world of home ownership with all of it trials and tribulations...BUT THEY ARE OURS, ALL OURS and proud to have them too.

By now you and your 'Hearts-Lady' have found places for just about everything. And wondering where to put some of that 'what will we do with this now that we can't hide it in storage'.

Suggestion...your duty gear....AND....remember it's ONLY a suggestion.

Can you get easily into the attic to lay a wood floor and maybe attach some plywood to studs for walls? In other words make yourself a "room". It doesn't have to have a door. So, now instead of finding places all over the house and having to listen to your 'Heart's-Lady' mumble-grumble about "that gear" being in the way your have an organized area that's all your own. Benifit, you and your 'Hearts-Lady' will know where to go to put hands on "that gear" in a very quick order.
If so, once the floor is down and walls up then attach to the walls easily adjustable wire-closet-shelving especially the type with wire-baskets, get some hanging clothing bags[space saver type-protects against mold, mildew, bugs] for the clothing that you aren't using at that time to hang from some of those shelves, plastic tote bins[be sure to have gallon plastic zip bags for multiple items] for that which would normally be under foot, clogging drawers and other needed spaces.
I put those type of shelves in my closet and the space that I discovered I had was Amazing...AND it's not a big closet either.
I also used the space-saver bags for my winter coats/clothes/blankets but here in North Georgia that not to much.
Hope my suggestions help even if you couldn't make a "that gear" room.

Now, as for "Once a Marine..Always a Marine" display area well, I don't need to give you any ideas on how to set one of those up....Do I.

GLAD YOU ARE BACK....and will wait patiently for those wonderful stories.

Miss Em
